Air Emissions – Permits, Notifications and Documentation

Business operations may release gases and particulate matter into the air. Emissions can arise from industrial processes, heating equipment, paint shops, dryers and installations using solvents. The applicable requirements depend on the type of installation, its technical parameters and how it is operated.
MASAD prepares air emissions assessments and documentation. We help businesses determine whether a planned or existing installation requires a permit, a notification or an update to its current documentation.
When should air emissions be assessed?
An assessment is useful before an installation starts operating and whenever its operating conditions change. This may include an extension of the facility, a change in technology, fuel or raw materials, the addition of equipment, or an increase in production capacity.
An existing facility may also need a review if its documentation no longer reflects actual operations. We determine the scope of the assessment based on the emission sources and the technical information available.
How MASAD can support you
Depending on the installation and the purpose of the assignment, our work may include:
- identifying emission sources and substances released into the air;
- assessing whether an air emissions permit or an installation notification is required;
- compiling information on equipment, processes, fuels, raw materials and operating hours;
- calculating emission quantities;
- assessing the dispersion of substances in ambient air, where required;
- preparing documentation for an application for a permit to release gases or particulate matter into the air;
- preparing documentation for an installation notification;
- preparing documentation for an amendment to an existing permit.
We can also help organise the data used for environmental reporting and charges. The precise scope of work is agreed after we have reviewed the installation and your requirements.
How we Work?
Reviewing the installation
We examine the industrial process, emission sources, technical documentation, and any existing permits and notifications.
Determining the requirements
We assess which requirements apply and what information is needed to prepare the documentation. At this stage, we also define the scope of the necessary assessments and calculations.
Preparing the documentation
We prepare the agreed materials for a notification, a permit application or an amendment to an existing permit. We can also help you respond to questions from the authority concerning the documentation we have prepared.
What information do we need to get started?
For an initial assessment, a description of your business activity, the location of the facility and an indication of whether the installation is planned or already operating will be sufficient. Information on equipment, processes, fuels and raw materials is also useful, as are any existing permits, notifications or measurement results.
If some of this information is not yet available, we will identify what needs to be collected once the scope of the assignment has been agreed.
Do you need air emissions documentation?
We will review how your installation operates, determine the appropriate procedure and prepare documentation suited to its specific characteristics.
